Lake Ontario Portrait
My ongoing engagement with the mud and microbes of Lake Ontario. Polycarbonate, mud, microbes from Lake Ontario.
02
Mud and Microbes Workshops
Workshops presented to various communities focused on mud and microbes.
03
We Are Perennial
A detailed series of botanical illustrations of native flora on acrylic. Each artwork captures the delicate structures of flowers, leaves, and seed pods. This project celebrates the intricate beauty and diversity found in plant life and its capacity for renewal.
04
Microbial Sculpture Workshops
As an important part of my practice I offer workshops to the communities I am in. These workshops enable participants to "get muddy" with me. A process that I find important and fun. They also get to take home their own mini microbial sculpture to take care of and watch grow.
05
Bodies
Normal flora, the microbes that always surround us, slowly colonizes the fabric bodies that represent us all. Revealing the invisible life that is always present.
06
Dis-generate
A process of casting a deer bone in plaster that slowly forms mistakes and alterations until the original form is unrecognizable.
07
Phase
Phase is a collection of thin layer chromatography plates created using art marker pigments. The process separates each element of the ink, creating a beautiful abstract field using capiliary action. the process is both controlled by the artist and by the scientific process itself resulting in an artwork that cannot be predicted.
08
Normal Flora
Grown inside of the Art Gallery of York University Vitrines, the artwork reveals the normal flora - microbes always present - of the space.
09
Surgery
A book printed on gauze. The delicate structure echoes the very personal text describing surgical procedures that my family members and I have been through.
10
Weaponry Series
Contending with the creation and use of weapons, in particular the power that can be felt when handling guns and the complicated relationship between form and function.
